Facebook Confirms: the Messenger App Split Has Started

If you’re still not using Facebook Messenger by now, then ,you may not have much time before your messages disappear from the main Facebook app.

According to Mashable , facebook spokesperson confirmed to Mashable that some users began to notice the change Wednesday — but that it is not yet affecting all of Facebook’s mobile users.

If the speculations are to be beleived , then , the change will only affect users of the iPhone and Android app whereas on the other hand, messages will remain in the iPad and Windows Phone app.

But yet, It’s not exactly clear how long it will take for all of Messenger’s holdouts to see the change .

Although the main Facebook app has been prompting users to download Messenger since April, but, still social media giant announced that although it would be making the switch, yet , users could still access messages without downloading Messenger until now.

Facebook has been ramping up to this change for quite some time now , when Facebook it would be requiring mobile users to download both apps.Not only this, Last week, Messenger users received an email alerting them their messages would be moved over to the Messenger app in the very near future.

As far as the users are being concerned ,some of them are not happy by the move but yet, Facebook has maintained it’s stand that using Messenger would be beneficial for them as  it would be faster and more reliable .

The app, which first launched in 2011, already has more than 200 million monthly users, the company reports.
