How To Turn Your Windows PC Into WiFi hotspot

Many a times , it is required to share your internet connection with other devices like mobile etc. Now , in Windows , there are basically two methods to make your machine into hotspot , one without software and other using software . But , since , this post is about how to make your PC to WiFi hotspot without any software , hence , here I will not be sharing other method .

Now , before you get started , make sure you have wired , wireless or USB stick internet connectivity . Also , for dextop users , it is necessary to have WiFi adapter . For laptop users , WiFi adapter is usually integrated with the hardware . Now , let us take a look at the steps :-

How To Turn Your Windows PC Into WiFi hotspot

1.) First of all connect your PC with Internet.

2.) Next, open CMD by typing CMD in Run. Now , there are two modes in which CMD can be opened , one the normal mode and other the Administrator mode . Open CMD in second mode .

3.) Next type the following command into CMD

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Hotspot key=Password123

The “ssid” represents your “WiFi Hot Spot’s name” and the “Key” represents your “WiFi Password”. You can change them, in case you need.

4.) Now , enter the following command and press enter to start your virtual WiFi hotspot. It should show a message that “The hosted network started”.

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

5.) Now, go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Network Connections. There you will see the newly listed “Virtual Local Area Connection”.

6.) Next, go back to the “Network and Sharing Center” and click the “Ethernet”. A new window will pop-up, in that select “Properties” and go to “Sharing” tab on the top. Enable “Allow other users to connect through this computer’s Internet Connection” option on the top. In the drop down list below, select the newly listed “Virtual Local Area Connection”. Click “Ok” and you are good to go.

7.) Now , your system will behave like a router for all other devices. This , method is very useful if you have wired internet connection and you want to share your connection.
