Good Bye Windows 2003 .A group of Cyber Security experts have warned Windows 2003 users that they are at potential risk and hence migrate to newer version of Windows operating system.
The Windows maker “Microsoft” have declared the “end of life” for Windows Server- 2003 is July 14,2015. By end of life, they meant that the makers of this popular Operating System will stop sending Security Updates and Patches for Microsoft Windows 2003. As a result of this, the Old Servers will be more Vulnerable to Malicious Attack and hence, result in the loss of business data as well as the intellectual property.
Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) said in its latest advisory to users “It is recommended that all users and organisations using Windows Server-2003 in their environment should look for software vendors and service providers who offer assistance in migrating from Windows Server-2003 to a supported operating system or a cloud-based service”.
An IT expert has said that CERT-in has made a early good move in this regard. Moreover, the agency will be updating the Operating System (OS) over the time till the OS is completely shut down. It is to be noted that Windows Server 2003 last received it’s major security update in form of service pack-2 dated back in March 2007.
