Worse than Heartbleed? Today's Bash bug could be breaking security for years

Linux users got a reality check today . The Security Team at Red Hat gave a shocker today when they revealed that there could be a dangerous bug in Bash Shell. Bash Shell is one of the most widely used utility of Linux . It’s being called the Bash bug, or Shellshock . According to the reports , when accessed properly by an attacker, It enables the code of attacker to be executed as soon as Shell is being invoked .

More worse is the fact that the bug has been present in the enterprise Linux Software . What Red Hat did good is that they released patches for the bug . Moreover, the bug even affects OS X, but , yet the release from there side is still been awaited.

Errata Security’s Robert David Graham has already compared the bug to Heartbleed, for its broad and potentially long term effect on system security. “An enormous percentage of software interacts with the shell in some fashion,” Graham wrote in a blog post. If he is to be believed , then, HeartBleed was quite a bug , and if Bash Bug i being compared to it , then , the issue might be just very serious.

Have anything to add , Feel free to do so in comments ………..
